Welcome to our dedicated platform where safety meets innovation within Mental Health care environments. The demand for safe secure and compassionate spaces has intensified in recent years as social policy has developed to create a safety culture within mental health care. This was emphasised within the national suicide prevention strategy for England (DoH, 2002) which first introduced the standard that likely ligature anchor points in mental health inpatient environments should be removed or covered. Since this time the manufacture of innovative ligature resistant safety products has kept pace providing care providers with a large choice of safety products available.
Once ligature resistant equipment has been fitted it is essential that it is maintained. Moreover, we believe that environmental safety goes beyond the fitting of products but also encompasses the design and fit of each room and the furniture fixtures and fittings within it taking into consideration the individuals being cared for.
What we provide ?
Audit: We recognise that eliminating ligature attachment points should start from a position of understanding the current state of the environment. We can provide a full audit of your environment, the procedures, all equipment fitted and how it has been fitted. Once your audit has been completed a full report will be written to highlight the findings.
Train: Where the audit report presents inconsistencies in identifying ligatures or poorly fitted products we can provide comprehensive training packages on how to correctly use and fit the products and tailor training packages, developed using best practice methodology, to suit your environment.
Test: All load release equipment can be tested in accordance with manufactures instructions. Lig-Safe can provide testing that will also highlight inconsistencies across environments and will also comment more widely on the state of locking mechanisms, fitted and unfitted furniture, lighting, fixings etc. All to often the integrity of ligature resistant products is compromised through poor fitting.
